For the Love of Costume Design

When it comes to clothing we all have a unique and particular style. It is what makes us stand a part from one another. Our clothing, a statement, saying, ‘Here I am.’ The articles of clothing that we wear are chosen carefully. It does matter how a particular material feels against the delicate skin of your body. It does matter how a shirt flows with your sway. It matters, how a pair of pants hug your curves just perfectly. Throughout our lives we go on a journey to define who it is that we are independent of our parents. For some perhaps their heritage, and for some, to disguise the truth of who they really are. We are at different points in our lives; different characters. Showing many sides, many flavors. That is how and why we fall in love with so many of the characters from our favorite films. Costume design is essential to character. It does define who that character is and what they chose to show to the world. Samantha Swan of Ardent Pictures ever so eloquently talks about this in her piece For The Love Of Wardrobe. Enjoy and reminisce as I have reading this piece.
